Open my online shop
You make things or hunt for them, and people tell you "you should sell that". One evening you opened an account on a platform, and it's been asleep ever since.
The shop before the products
You start with the platform and the domain name. Hours comparing options, and in the end, an empty shop, because the real question was never asked: what do I sell first, and to whom?
Then come the photos, the descriptions, the prices, the shipping, and the idea that you need thirty items to open. You need five.
So shrink it. Five products, each with a decent photo and a price, then a first sale to someone you know.
An example of the path
Here's what this project can look like once it's broken down. Yours starts from your answers, beginning with what you already have and what's holding you back. It will come out different, and that's on purpose.
- Milestone 1
Choose what I sell first
- Pick the five pieces I'll sell first, and put them on the tableDone
- Write one sentence for each: what it is, who it's for
- Set a price for each, counting my time
- Ask two people which ones they'd buy, and why
- Milestone 2
Prepare my five products
For each, one sharp photo on a plain background and two lines of description. And the weight, for shipping.
≈ 6 steps planned, detailed when you get there - Milestone 3
Build the shop
The platform, payment, shipping, a home page. Live before beautiful.
≈ 7 steps planned, detailed when you get there - Milestone 4
The first sales
Tell the people who know me, post three times, ship fast, ask for a review.
≈ 6 steps planned, detailed when you get there - Milestone 5
Run the shop
A rhythm for orders and stock. New pieces once the first five are moving.
≈ 4 steps planned, detailed when you get there
Your first step, tonight
Pick the five pieces I'll sell first, and put them on the table
It's physical, and it takes ten minutes. Once it's on the table, the project is real.
How the path adapts to you
You say all of this in the opening questions, and you can change it later.
- Products already photographed? The second milestone shrinks to a check.
- Already selling at markets? Put it under "What you already have": the plan starts from what works.
- Only have Sundays? Pick "In big blocks": longer steps, less often.
Your project has waited long enough.
Name your goal. It starts here.
In a few minutes, you'll know exactly where to start. The first step takes less time than thinking about it again.
